Marlinspike Hitch
The Marlinspike Hitch is used for when you have to serve, seize, or splice a
rope. Basically, you can protect a rope by making half hitches around it.
However, when you make use of modern ropes, you don’t have to worry too
much about this.
Instructions:
1. First, make a loop.
2. Then, tuck a bight into the loop that you have made—just near the
standing end.
3. Now, make sure that you put the loop over the pole. Wound it tight.
4. Get a second rope.

5. After getting the second rope, go ahead and tie the knot to the end of
the other pole.
6. Repeat the process until you get to make a step ladder, if desired.
