How did the character change throughout the book?
He grows increasingly lonely over the three years when he lived with his horrible aunts,
as they won't let him play with other children or explore the woods surrounding their
desolate garden, but after meeting the insects he got to show his true self and helped
save the peach and its passengers in many ways. After landing in New York, his whole
life changed as he became popular. He also gets a lot of character development as the
story progresses, as he showed his true character, proving he is not just a lonely boy
who has no friends, but a brave and caring protagonist.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST
Annemarie and Kirsti
Annemarie and Kirsti are characters introduced in the book
Number the Stars. They are sisters. Annemarie is the elder one
and Kirsti is the younger one. Annemarie and Kirsti have a bit
of a similar facial appearance. They both like pink frosted
cupcakes because whenever they talk about pink frosted
cupcakes they get excited. They don’t like fish shoes because
when their mother bought a pair of fish shoes for Kirsti they both
showed their dislike.
Annemarie is 10 years old. She has silvery blond hair. She is tall and can run fast. She has
really long legs which has earned her the nickname “Longlegs” which was given by Peter .
She is not always stubborn as she willingly does everything her mother tells her to do. She
studies in school and is more interested in athletics. She is considerate and we know that
because when their mother bought fish skin shoes for Kirsti, Annemarie said it is not that
bad, and that cheered Kirsti.
Kirsti is 5 years old. She has tangled hair. She is shorter than Annemarie and can not run as
fast as her elder sister. She is always stubborn. Annemarie thinks that she is dumb because
she said that the Hirsch family must have gone for vacation and took pink frosted cupcake
with them when food was rationed because of the war. She is a bit bossy and choosy too.
