ROALD DAHL
Roald Dahl was born on 13th September 1916 in Wales, to Norwegian parents Harald
Dahl and Sophie Magdlene Hessellberg. Dahl was named after Roald Amundsen, the
Norwegian who had been the first person to reach Southpole 4 years earlier. Roald Dahl
was a spy, a pilot, a chocolate historian, and a medical inventor. He has written many
books. He was the author of Matilda, BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Fantastic
Mr. Fox, etc. His mother wanted the best for him and sent Dahl to a boarding school
called St. Peters. Dahl’s lust for traveling took him first to Canada, then to East Africa
where he worked for an oil company until the outbreak of World War II. In 1940 Dahl
received severe injuries on his head, nose, and back when his Gladiator crash landed in
the western desert. After 6 months of recovering from his injuries in Alexandria, he
returned to action, taking part in the battle of Athens. Later onwards he was posted to
Washington D.C. Roald Dahl married the american actress Patricia Neal with whom he
had 5 kids. They got a divorce after 30 years. On 23rd or November 1990, Dahl passed
away at the age of 73.
