JK ROWLING
Joanne Rowling aka JK Rowling was born on 31st July 1965 at Yate General Hospital
near Bristol, and grew up in Gloucestershire in England. She wanted to be a writer from
an early age. She wrote her first book at the age of six. She is best known for her world
famous and loved book series- Harry Potter. Rowling grew up in Chepstow, Gwent. She
knew what she wanted to be when she was six, which was to be a writer. Her first book
was about a rabbit.
She attended Wyedean Comprehensive School and College but joined the University of
Exeter in England. There, she studied French although she wanted to study English
literature, but her parents felt that it would take her nowhere. In 1987, she earned a
bachelors in French and the Classics.
Some facts:
Her childhood friend had the surname "Potter". She adores charm bracelets.The 'K' in
her name is a tribute to her grandmother.She based the character of Hermione on
herself.
