We would take turns and take up the roles. In every reciprocal teaching class, we would
change roles so everyone would get each of the roles. Miss Sonee would send us to

breakout rooms so we could read the chapter(s) and prepare for our roles. From

reciprocal teaching, I understood the story more.

Virtual Trip to Bhaktapur Durbar Square

During our online classes, we had a virtual
trip to Bhaktapur Durbar square. There are

four squares in the Bhaktapur Durbar square
itself. The first square is the Bhaktapur

Durbar Square where we visited the 55
window palace. There are many myths behind

the 55 window palace and one popular one
says that it is to commemorate King

Bhupatendera Malla’s (The king who built the
palace) 55th birthday where he built the 55

window palace. Another one says that he had

55 queens; he made each window for one
queen to look out from the palace if there

                                                           were any events.

The statue of the person doing the namaste pose on the long pillar in front of the palace

is of King Bhupatendra Malla himself and he is praying to goddess Taleju Bhawani. The
next place we explored is the Golden Gate and inside it there are three beautiful, ancient

palace walls: the one on the right-hand side was built in the 18th century, the one in the
middle was built in the 19th century and the one on the left-hand side was built in the

16th century. Inside, lies a beautiful pond which was used by the King and Queen to
bathe. It is protected by a serpent which is known as the god of water in the Hindu

religion and it also has intricate statues of other gods carved around the pond. The next
place we explored was the Pottery square. There are many skilled potters working in this

area who are majorly Prajapatis and they use many ovens that bake the clay to make the

pottery. The pottery is made by spinning and sculpting it as it spins. They make piggy
banks, vases, decorative cups and other beautiful and intricately designed things too.
