Dear Alumni, Past Parents and Friends,
It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of The Neuchâtel Junior College Fund. Like many of
you, NJC profoundly impacted my life. That transformational year in Switzerland offered me the generosity of intellect shared by gifted mentors and an enduring love of adventure and learning. NJC was an experience that will stay with me for life — like the valued friends that I gained while there.
In my role as Chair, I am fortunate to witness the impact that the College has had on established fellow alumni and each new class of graduates who return to Canada with the resolve and hope of young people who have been inspired. My work in service of The Fund allows me to contribute to the school and to our community in a meaningful way that honours my own transformation.
Like me, each NJC Fund Chair believes in the curriculum that Leonard Wilde has shared with over 5,000 alumni. We get to see firsthand how philanthropy and volunteerism powers NJC’s mandate and directly benefits our students. This
is the legacy that inspired Chairs of the Canadian Advisory Committee, past and present, to establish the Marcel Jeanneret Scholarship Fund this year. An investment of $150,000 will be awarded to talented young students over the next 5 years in honour of remarkable Past President of our Board of Directors, Marcel Jeanneret. Monsieur Jeanneret served Neuchâtel Junior College as President for nearly twenty years and provided an admirable example of personal duty and commitment that we should all aspire to, as beneficiaries and custodians of the school.
As we mark the end of the 60th anniversary celebration, I am humbled with this opportunity
to recognize your contribution as the many loyal alumni, past-parents, class reps and committee members who have sustained the school since 1956. With this history to build upon, we know that NJC is rich in steadfast allies and our future will bring continued success.
The Fund is committed to progress and NJC’s forthcoming Strategic Plan will provide a blueprint for innovation and inspiration that will reinforce the strength and permanence of the College. We will continue to secure the resources necessary for NJC’s advancement and, as always, will treat your investments in The NJC Fund with the greatest respect and gratitude.
Our call to action, “Step Outside” applies to more than our students. We each have the opportunity to ensure that NJC is at the forefront in preparing future leaders for Canada. Like our school, our students are exceptional and deserve your loyalty and encouragement.
I urge you to increase your commitment to NJC this year. Whether your interest is in scholarships, curriculum development, bursaries or alumni programming — your annual donation provides our students and faculty the resources needed to maintain an enduring tradition of excellence.
