The
Marcel Jeanneret Scholarship Fund
Neuchâtel Junior College Proudly Announces the Marcel Jeanneret Scholarship Fund
At our 61st graduation on June 16th, Head of School, Bill Boyer had the pleasure of announcing the creation of a new scholarship fund honouring Neuchâtel Junior College’s esteemed and long-serving President of the Conseil de fondation (Board of Governors), Monsieur Marcel Jeanneret.
The Marcel Jeanneret Scholarship Fund was spearheaded by Past Chair of the Canadian Advisory Committee, David Binet ’76, who served with Monsieur Jeanneret from 2001-2004. The scholarship fund was co-created with the generous support of Past Chairs, Max Thompson ’88 and Hugh Hall ’71, along with current Chair, Sally Morris.
Monsieur Jeanneret served NJC as President of the Conseil de fondation for an extraordinary span of nearly twenty years (1987-2006). Respected by the many staff and committee members who had the pleasure of working with him, Monsieur Jeanneret is known as a diligent and kind colleague, whose exemplary service has left an indelible mark on the school’s rich history.
“For those of you who don’t know Marcel – he is an extraordinary man. Optimist, teacher, humanist, charmer, leader. A model of Swiss efficiency. He didn’t just do what had to be done as President of the Conseil de fondation, he and his wife Ariane came to personify the school’s qualities. We hope that this award is a fitting way to recognize the contributions of the inexhaustible Marcel Jeanneret, his wonderfully supportive wife Ariane and children,” said David Binet ’76.
In total, this group of Canadian Advisory Committee chairs will enable the Scholarship Committee to award $150,000 in funds to promising students over the next 5 years. A total of $30,000 will be awarded annually on the basis of academic ability, personal merit, and leadership qualities.
Monsieur Marcel Jeanneret
Past President Conseil de fondation
Current Head of School, Bill Boyer, expressed the scholarship’s importance to the school and future students: “I am so pleased to know that this landmark scholarship will bring even more exceptional candidates to NJC. The recipients will benefit from not only the excellence of an NJC education, but also from the legacy of Monsieur Jeanneret’s steadfast dedication and generous spirit.”
