After weighing through hundreds of offers, 87 percent of the Class of 2015 opted to pursue post-secondary studies at universities across Canada; just under 50 percent of whom are studying at Queen’s, McGill and Western. The balance of the class elected to continue studying abroad in the US or UK, including Middlebury College, Parson’s School of Design and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland to name a few!
Shortly after beginning school, I came to realize how nurturing the environment is at NJC. There is a real sense of family and community among the students, because we are all in the same boat. We are all experiencing everything together for the first time: living away from home, traveling Europe, and discovering who we really are.

NJC is a school that attracts a certain type of student, one that is adventurous, outgoing, and always looking to try something new. That’s why I feel like the friends I made here will be friends I have for the rest of
my life.

This year has prepared me for my future career in
a way I could never have expected. In the field of business (my intended path) social skills, confidence, past experience, and joviality are all critical factors for being successful. After this year, I can confidently say that I feel ready to enter the business world.

I’ve learned that life is an adventure here. With such a limited time you have to take advantage of every single day and make the most of it. It bothers me to find myself sitting around. I’m always seeking and craving my next adventure and next activity.

The biggest thing I’ve learned is the importance of adventure and perseverance. I’m always going to be presented with things that will seem scary and difficult at first, but you just have to go into it with all you have and push yourself a little farther each day. If you see
a detour, take it. Stop and smell the roses, go hang out with the cows for a while, and don’t be afraid to explore everything and learn along the way.

As an experienced traveler, I believe that it is our responsibility to bring happiness to wherever we might visit in our lives.

Neuchâtel Junior College boasts an ability to give
students knowledge—knowledge found in books and
in daily classes, but also knowledge that can only be
gained by spending a year abroad. My year at NJC has
not only given me knowledge, but has given me a
broader idea of what knowledge is.

I have learned that I cannot pass up any opportunity that presents itself, to seize the moment, and put
my phone down to truly appreciate the beauty of
the world.

Going into university, I feel as if I have an upper hand. I’m independent, mature, and confident in myself.
I look forward to keeping on growing at university, camp, future travels and endeavours.
