For the purposes of this article, the term “newspaper website” refers to any
news-related website that has the editorial focus of an online periodical. Many of the

websites mentioned here are the online versions of major newspapers, but others are

standard news websites and some blur the line between news website and blog.

Graphic design continues to evolve as technology makes it easier to create new
exciting visuals that would capture people’s attention. As such, graphic designers

experiment on new visuals that could become trends in the industry.

Every year, experts list down graphic design trends. Most of them get followed as

a trend. It appears on branding and on company websites, which was the case for
2019 graphic design trends. Sometimes it appears on social media visuals too.

However, not all make it the go-to trend. Despite such, some of them make

comebacks or would get more recognition in the next year. Perhaps it wasn’t yet its

time or it was overshadowed by the most popular ones.In this article, we uncover the
2019 graphic design trends that got its time in the spotlight. We also list down five of

the major 2020 graphic design trends.

                                                                                (Katrina Pascual 2020)

In 2019, you can expect to see plenty of digital and graphic design elements that
create a sense of order, beauty, and self-awareness. Jarring colors become harmonious

in tiled patterns and modern collages, exaggerated proportions make for delightful and
inclusive illustrations, and glitches become an aesthetic all their own.

Like many trends across all branches, digital design in 2019 will feature a
healthy dose of both nostalgia and futurism. With retro influences from brutalism,

cubism, and abstract art, the design trends of 2019 are reinventing some of the most
aggressively disruptive aesthetic movements of the past to create a bold and colorful

                   vision for the digital future.
