LANGUAGE WORKSHOP – Strucutrer son discours - LINKING WORDS (les mots de liaison)
Compétences travaillées :
-écrire des mots et des expressions dont l’orthographe et la syntaxe ont été mémorisées.
-mobiliser des structures simples pour écrire des phrases en s’appuyant sur une trame connue.
-s’appuyer sur les stratégies développées à l’oral pour apprendre à structurer son écrit.
-mobiliser les outils pour écrire, corriger, modifier son écrit.

 Voici une liste de mots qui permettent de relier les phrases :
If (si), as (comme), but (mais), whereas (alors que/ tandis que), so (donc), and (et), or (ou),
that’s why (c’est pourquoi), instead of (au lieu de) :
He can’t swim whereas his brother can. Il ne sait pas nager alors que son frère oui.
Instead of playing the guitar, he cooks. Au lieu de jouer de la guitare, il cuisine.

 Dans un récit, on utilise : first (d’abord, premièrement), then (ensuite), after that (après),
finally (enfin, finalement) :
First he heard a noise, then he opened the door. After that he went out and finally saw the cat.
D’abord il entendit un bruit, puis il ouvrit la porte. Ensuite il sortit et finalement vit le chat.

1 Compléter les phrases par as, then, so, if ou finally.

a. …………….. it was snowing, he put on his snowboots.

b. My parents had an accident, …………… they were late.

c. I’ve got another book, ……………. I can lend you this one.

d. …………. He goes to the States, he’ll visit the Statue of liberty.

e. You can come back home first, ………….. wash and ……………. go out to the party.

2 Reliez les éléments pour former des phrases.

a. Jenny’d like to go to the concert   1. then she got dressed.

b. As I’m tired,   2. or listening to music ?

c. First she woke up,   3. but she can’t.

d. Do you prefer watching films   4. I will sleep early.

e. John must look after his sister   5. that’s why he won’t go to the cinema.

3 Mettez ce récit au passé après avoir retrouvé le bon ordre et en utilisant des mots de

liaison.
We go out to the park. We can take her motorbike out of the lake. She asks me to help her. I

agree. My sister opens my bedroom door.
