        satisfaisant de compréhension.
        -comprendre des documents écrits de nature et de difficultés variées issus de sources diverses.
        -s’approprier le document en utilisant des repérages de nature différent : indices extralinguistiques,
        linguistiques, reconstitution du sens, mise en relation d’éléments significatifs.
        - Mobiliser des références culturelles pour interpréter les éléments d’un message, d’un texte, d’un
        document sonore.


        Your task : Read the text and try to understand. Then do the activities in your notebook.




                                Reading comprehension strategies


               Read the title and predict what the text might be about.
               Look at any illustration. What do they tell you about the topic ?

               Look at the text over and note its lenght, organization, source to identify the type of

                 document. Pay attention to the punctuation.
               Read for gist (= read the text to get the general idea of its content : who ? What ?

                 When ? WHere ?)
               Read a second time – more closely.

               Read the questions completely
               Scan the text to look for answers only one question at a time.

               When you come to a word you don’t know, try to infer (deduce ; guess) its meaning by

                 examining the context clues or the word parts (suffixes, prefixes, root words).








                              Dictionaries should only be used as a last resort
