1) Similar terms are terms in algebraic form that have the same variables, so they can
be added or subtracted.

operation of the sum or difference.
a. The first term is an algebraic form that is not connected by the operation of sum or
difference. Example: 3x, 4a2, –2ab, ...
b. Term two is an algebraic form that is connected by a sum or difference operation. Example:
a2 + 2, x + 2y, 3x2 – 5x, ...
c. A triple term is an algebraic form connected by two addition or difference operations.
