THE WEEKEND AT MORGAN PARK RACEWAY, WARWICK MAY 2023
More boys story from Ken McGregor
On a nippy Saturday morning we left the ladies to their own resources and headed for the track and with the assistance of John Mc’s Google navigation we went around the block three times but eventually we arrived at the track.
First we headed for the pits and as it was an historic meeting there was a great collection of cars:
Formula Fords Formula VEE Formula 3000 Cheetahs Minis
Ford Sierras Ford Anglia Ford Escorts Ford Mustangs Alfa
BMW JPS Mazda RX7 Nissan Godzzilla Nissan Bluebirds Nissan 1600 Triumphs MGs Camaros
This is an example as there were many more brands and series which was good racing – which reminded me of the good old Bathurst days when we had Group A B C D etc, not a two-brand event.
First we sat on the cold steel seats next to the start/finish line but soon realised this was a poor viewing position, so in need of a hot coffee we then then relocated up the hill and found a great viewing spot next to the control tower (see picture).
During the two days we watched some good competitive racing and the weather was kind to us as it did not rain until the last race on Sunday when we got a few drops of rain.
We had a great weekend both at the track and socially – see another report by Debbie Newton on the girls activities !
