PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello Roadrunners
Firstly, I would like to congratulate the new (old) Management Committee, that have been re-elected at the recent AGM, although we do still have a vacancy for the Treasurer’s position, this vacancy was brought about by Jack Connolly not renominating for the position.
I would like to thank the 55 members who attended the AGM and participated in the proceedings, making it a great success.
General Meeting
A General Meeting was held prior to the AGM.
The matter of the 250-membership cap, which was to be reviewed at this time, was raised in General Business and after I presented the discussion paper from the Committee, with a proposal to remove the cap, questions were answered.
A Motion was then moved that “The membership cap of 250 be removed and reviewed again at the next AGM” this was seconded, and many members then took the opportunity to speak for and against the motion: it was good to see so many people participate by giving their views on the matter.
Once everyone had the opportunity to speak a vote was taken with an overwhelming majority supporting the motion, therefore it was passed.
At the conclusion of the General Meeting and on behalf of the members, the out-going Committee were each presented with an Etched Wine Glass with the words ‘Committee 2021 Thank You’ in recognition of their work on Committee for the past year.
The meeting was then handed over to Malcolm King as interim Chair to manage the election office bearers.
All positions were declared vacant, and nominations that had been received, were read out, with only one nomination for President, Vice President and Secretary, these positions were declared as filled, with a vote by members to accept taking place.
Despite a call for nominations from the floor to fill the position of Treasurer, there were no nominations, therefore Jack Connolly agreed to fill the casual vacancy until a replacement can be found.
Note: The Committee has now ratified the casual vacancy is being filled by Jack Connolly as required under the constitution.
Management Appointed Positions
All management appointed positions continuing as appointed in their roles.
The meeting was then closed, and everyone enjoyed afternoon tea with much discussion taking place.
Position Vacant – Treasurer
It is imperative that we find a replacement Treasurer as soon as possible, therefore I invite anyone who may have an interest in taking on the role to contact me to discuss what the role entails.
Anyone taking on this role will be provided with full support from Jack as well as the entire Committee to make the transition as easy as possible.
We are now using ‘Xero’ with automatic bank feeds and cash flow budgeting and the Club holds Insurance to protect office bearers from litigation.
The new Management Committee will start planning the year ahead at the Management Meeting on 15th September.
We now look forward to the year ahead.
