2024 Noosa Concours d’Elegance
Thanks to Debbie Newton who sent us a great article on this special event.
Mick Freestone and Debbie were, of course, showing the Bugatti :
see some lovely photos of them with the car.
The 2024 Noosa Concours was just a fantastic weekend, world class! Commencing with welcome drinks at Sofitel Noosa Riviera Lounge on Friday night for the concours participants. Was quite a noisy and jovial couple of hours of drinks and lavish finger food.
Saturday morning the cars assembled at a muster point about 2 kilometres from Noosa’s iconic Hastings Street where the 50 entrants were all reverse parked on the 45 degree.
This was an amazing display of makes and models invited to the 2024 event, including a Type 57 Coupe recently purchased by Clive Palmer, which is just beautiful. Also invited was the Ex Adelaide Type 57 that Gavin Stanford-Morgan rebodied from a Tourer to GP body, sounded delightful, and I was invited to include my Type 13 Brescia (Edwards car).
What a display... 2 McLaren’s, an older F1 that took out the People’s Choice Award, and a new one with a sleek space tail. Frank Carroll from the Rolls Royce Foundation in Coolum Beach and his beautiful 1927 RR Phantom Limousine Rolls Royce. Frank was also Head Judge for the event.
The streets of Noosa were packed 10 deep as we drove in convoy to Hastings Street, and that depth of spectators never lessened even as we drove out they were still packed in to view the exit.
Every car had a personal steward to field the endless questions and remarks on our cars.
Frank Carroll’s judging team of four included a friend of his from Victoria (new addition, Neil Matthews) who is very experienced, along with Todd Gilmour from Sydney, also very experienced and he assisted last year. Then we had a new chap, an American who was flown in by organisers “to add international experience”.
