Injuries and bike problems affected Jayce Pennington throughout the en- tirety of the 2016 racing season, most notably an early-week first turn crash at the Ranch in 2016 that dropped him from contention for the rest of the week with a couple of gnarly injuries. He has turned over a new leaf in 2017 with a brand new bike, a brand new team, and a renewed sense of confidence in his abilities. The Illinois native signed a deal with Traders MX at the beginning of the season after
a standout performance at the 2016 Monster Energy Cup, putting him in
a good place for his final amateur season. Pennington snagged a win in the AX Lites class at the the inaugural Motofest under the Georgia Dome, securing all of his required Road to Supercross points. The Yamaha rider scored a pair of top five finishes at
the Daytona RCSX by overcoming some treacherous conditions against some stiff competition. The Road to Loretta’s has been smoothly paved for the Yamaha rider, as he recently took a third and a fourth place finish in the A class at the Ironman Mid-East Re- gional in a couple of stacked motos, cementing himself as one of the major contenders in the A class this year at the Ranch.
