ZANE MERRETT
Zane Merrett has had a mixed bag of results at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch throughout his career thus far, but he’s no stranger to the top ten on Ameri- ca’s biggest amateur motocross stage. The Texas native put together a sev- enth place overall finish in the College (16-24) class as well as a tenth place last year in 250 B Limited, but he has his sights set higher this year during his final outing in the B class. The KTM rider really found another gear following his moderate success at the Ranch in 2016, moving onto the Thor Winter Olympics to capture an overall podium in both disciplines of racing. Unfortunately, Merrett suffered a crash in his final moto of the event that left him in a wheelchair for a couple of days with some torn ligaments in his back and a bad leg. He did his best
to rehab his injuries as quickly as possible and was back in competition a little more than a month removed from the crash, earning number one plates at the Texas Winter Series. The Texan was back in fine form and all geared up for spring nationals; earn- ing himself three number one plates at Oak Hill and a second place overall in the Open B class at the California Classic. His consistent form continued throughout JuniorMotoX as well as his regional qualifier, finishing every race on the podium to place him in high spirits approaching the Ranch.
