MAX MARKOLF
KILPATRICK
Max Markolf has really come into his own in the last couple of years, especially after moving onto big bikes. The South Carolina native had a breakout performance at Loretta Lynn’s in 2014 in the Supermini 2 class where he earned the first top five finish of his career at the Ranch, but his expectations have grown exponentially with his potential since then. He didn’t have the best run in the B class at Loretta’s due to injury problems and bad luck, but he’s determined to redeem himself this year in the A class as the leading representative of the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM Amateur team. Markolf has been chosen as the main rider to pioneer the team’s effort that will help smooth the transition
to the professional ranks, but the eighteen year-old still has unfinished business on the amateur stage. The KTM rider has struggled with injuries since the end of 2016, but his unrelenting positive attitude has spurred on his rehab and recovery, placing him in good spirits heading into the thirty-sixth running of the Loretta Lynn’s National Championships. Markolf has shown the speed to run up front at each and every race he’s competed in throughout the 2017 season, so there’s no doubt he’ll be in the mix at the sharp end of the A class when the championship motos kick off at the Ranch.
