STETSON JOHNSON
Hundreds of racers file through the gates at Loretta Lynn’s year after year all with one goal. Winning a Championship. Most racers will never join that elite club and only few will. Those that are able to win a coveted Loretta Lynn’s championship often go through years of
trying before tasting glory. That makes the racers that win on their first try all the more rare and special. This year, Stetson Johnson added his name to that mystique list.
The C classes at Loretta Lynn’s are always full of drama and intensity so staying consistent over all three motos is your biggest key to success. Johnson lined up for moto one of 250 C ready to dive into the thick of the battle on his first trip to The Ranch. When the gate dropped, he found himself mired just outside the top ten. He didn’t lose hope and instead started maneuvering his way to the front. Throughout the moto he quietly made up ground on the riders in front of him before he found himself in sixth place with one lap to go. He saw two more riders just ahead and knowing every position counts, he went after them. He threw down a flawless lap and moved by both riders to secure fourth place. He was sitting pretty heading into the second moto.
