It would be a rough start for Nico-
letti in the heat, but he would man- age to make it through the wreck-
age – holding on to a sixth place on the second lap. He would hold on to this spot for nearly the whole race, until Musquin grabbed it toward the end. Nicoletti was bumped to the semis where he took the holeshot with Peick breathing down his neck. Coming into the second lap, Nicoletti held on to the lead until railing through a turn with Peick. Here, Peick overtakes his teammate, but Nicoletti held strong to second place until the final lap when Canard began to apply pressure to Nicoletti
in the whoop section. Canard reels in Nicoletti and makes the pass – despite being passed in the final lap; Nicoletti makes it on to the main with the third transfer spot in semi two.
After such an explosive race in the semi, anticipation was high for Nicoletti to do well in the main event; but bad luck would leave him out of the race.
