Alex started his day off at Washougal very well. He was able to find his speed early and qualified 8th going into the motos. He knew he would have to get a good start if he wanted to be near the front. When the gate dropped, Alex did exactly that and pulled a commanding holeshot. He held a commanding lead until
Savatgy started to close in as they neared the halfway point. Alex received enomous amounts of pressure each and every lap from the Kawasaki rider through the next few laps. As the white flag came out, Alex could see the light at the end of the tunnel. He turned it up a notch and won in commanding fashion. Finally, Big Al took a moto win in 2016. In the second moto, Alex was nowhere near the front of the pack as they rounded the first turn. Miraculously, after the chaos fizzled out on the first lap, Alex found himself in the 5th position. He made his way into 4th quickly and was determined to get to the front.
