Continuing his qualifying consistency, Ciancurulo qualified 2nd on the day and Jumped out of the gate strong in moto one. AC was near the front of the pack and began lap one around eighth. Shuffling around in the switchbacks, AC seemed to lose a couple spots on the first lap and with some bobbles of his own, Adam fell to 13th as the race officially got underway with the green flag. Then, Ciancurulo latched on to the Cooper Webb led battle as he was guided through the pack early, around Davalos, Commans and
Hill to reach 10th. Now behind his teammate, Arnaud Tonus, AC wanted more and pushed by the #66 quickly, overtaking the 9th spot. Over the next three minutes, Ciancurulo took it upon himself to lay down the hammer, pulling into 6th a few minutes before the halfway mark; getting by Harrison, Oldenburg and Plessinger. Now
in 6th, AC dealt with heat from Plessinger but fended off the #23 through the mid-way and final minutes of the moto, to finish there, just in front of Tonus in 7th. Turning around and heading back to the gate for moto two, AC got an even better start and seemed to be in 6th up the hill, hot on the tails of the lead five.
