Hot on the heels of fellow Husqvarna affiliate Zach Osborne, Davalos seemed to have a good start to moto one in about seventh place. Crossing lap one in 9th, Davalos struggled early. On lap two, Martin dropped a more couple positions while the entire field feasted on the fresh loam of Wash- ougal. Sitting in 12th, Davalos had made a move for 11th before being quickly passed by the local
hero, Justin Hill, for 12th. Martin seemed to settle in behind the #36 but after a lap or two in 11th, Hill had made the move on Mitchell Oldenburg to get inside the top ten. Left alone, Davalos began his own assault on Oldenburg to keep his hopes alive and eventually, just after the 15-minute mark, Davalos made the move to get around the Star Racing Yamaha rider. Unable to muster any more of a charge, Davalos lost sight of 10th and with ten minutes left in the moto, lost 11th to the from-behind-charge of Austin Forkner. After Austin moved into 10th, Davalos had run out of time and settled for 12th. Looking at moto two, Davalos got a similar jump but was inside the top five and ready to capitalize on the early race quarrel between Cooper Webb and Joey Savatgy; the tangle showing Martin the door to 2nd place behind Austin Forkner.
