While battling, it seemed Forkner was prepared to checkout but Martin wouldn’t let go as he drew close to the leader while the clock neared the halfway point. Holding 2nd strong, Davalos never dropped more than a couple seconds from Forkner until the last few minutes of the race where he high-sided, launching
himself into the sidelines. Initially appearing injured, Davalos did get up under his own power. A disappointing finish on the day, Davalos made a mistake at the right time and can now take the two-week break to regain some momentum before Unadilla
next month.
