Just like his BTO Sports KTM teammates Benny Bloss and Andrew Short, Justin Brayton has been riding a hot
streak. He wanted to keep it going at Washougal and looked poised and ready to do so after a healthy seventh
place qualifying effort. He got off to a decent start in the opening moto rounding the first turn in sixth place but would fall victim to the first lap shuffle and get sent back to ninth place after one. Then things would go from bad to worse when he bobbled and went down falling all the way back to twenty-second. He remounted and started clicking off solid laps moving up into eighteenth ten minutes into the moto.
He continued moving forward when he linked up and engaged in a quick battle with Jesse Wentland for fifteenth. He would make the pass and pick up two more positions to finish the moto in thirteenth. It was a nice come from behind ride from Brayton but he wanted to get back inside the top ten in moto two. Brayton nailed another solid start rounding lap one in seventh place. He stayed poised up front only losing a position to a fired up Weston Peick in the first ten minutes. Pourcel would also sneak by around halfway sending him back to ninth. Brayton seemed to settle into the spot and start a charge back to the front when disaster struck. He was blasting through the whoops before the finish line when he cased one and endoed in dramatic fashion. It was a rough get off for the veteran and it took him awhile to gather himself. Unfortunately it would end his already rough day prematurely. We hope to see Brayton try and reignite that hot streak he was on after our two-week break resumes at Unadilla.
