The race weekend at Road America is always one of the most highly attended and enjoyable races of the entire season and 2017 is slated to be no different as the battles for the championship remain closely contested in all four classes. Toni Elias leads the Superbike classification by just ten points heading into the weekend, Garrett Gerloff maintains a slight advantage ahead of his teammate JD Beach, Michael Gilbert holds a nine point lead over Nick McFadden in the Superstock 600 class, and Benjamin Smith has a one point advantage over Draik Beauchamp in the always exciting KTM RC390 Cup. The racing will be the main focus of the weekend as always, but a somber energy will be present throughout the pits following the unexpected loss of one of America’s racing heroes, Nicky Hayden. The loss hits close to home considering the part that the Hayden family played in the history of motorcycle racing in the United States as well as their current involvement in the Mo- toAmerica series. Helmets, headsets, fenders, fairings, trucks, clipboards, leathers, and anything else you can imagine will be sporting the #69 throughout the weekend in commemoration of the Kentucky Kid, celebrating the incredible life he lived on and off the track.
