CONNERBLEVINS
SUPERSTOCK 600
Blevins showed exceptional pace throughout Friday’s practice sessions in dry conditions, but he wasn’t able to replicate that speed throughout Saturday’s damp qualifying session. The Oklahoma native ended up qualifying eighteenth overall, placing him towards the back of the grid with a mountain to climb when the lights went out on the first race. Blevins put on an exceptional charge in the early stages of the first race, carving his way through
the pack like the proverbial knife through butter. He took his ZX-6R from way down the grid all the way up to tenth place overall after the opening lap, passing multiple riders with ease. He reached stiffer competition as he moved his way further up the field, but Blevins still managed to force his way past three more riders on the very next lap, promoting himself into seventh position with his sights firmly set on the leader of the Superstock 600 class. He became involved in a heated battle with JC Camacho and Shane Richardson for Superstock supremacy for the remainder of the race, battling back and forth as the laps wound down. Blevins worked his way into fourth position overall as he commanded the lead of the Superstock 600 class with only three laps to go, never wavering from
his domination as he claimed his first victory of the season a couple of tenths ahead of Richardson. In the second race, Blevins was able to recreate the opening lap heroics from race one as he stormed from the middle of the
grid all the way up to tenth place at the end of the first flying lap. The rider out of Oklahoma quickly worked his
way past a gaggle of riders over the course of the next couple laps, putting him on the Superstock 600 podium yet again with the majority of the race to go. He became involved in another heated duel with the New Zealand native of Richardson for the majority of the race, but he came out on top as the top Kawasaki as he held his advantage all the way until the checkered flag, besting the MotoAmerica rookie by just under one second. Blevins’ exceptional results throughout the weekend move him into first place in the Superstock 600 Championship heading into the fourth round of the series at Utah Motorsports Campus where he’ll be aiming to defend the number one spot.
