KTM RC 390 CUP
Standis
stamped his authority on the 2017 RC390 Cup class from the very first practice session of the weekend as he put himself in fifth position on the opening day of action. He was able to maintain the same form in qualifying as he eventually finished up in fifth position on the grid with a 1:50.075, a couple of thousandths behind the rider ahead of him. Standish maintained his position off the grid, immediately entrenching himself in a battle with his Herrin Compound teammate, Gavin Anthony. The two of them were able to work their way past Toby Khamsouk before the midway point of the race, solidifying themselves as main contenders in the battle for fourth position. They went toe-to-toe with Tyler Wissel and Cody Ventura all the way until the checkered flag, as Standish stalked them from a reserved seventh position. There was an outstanding change of the pecking order on the final lap as Standish leapfrogged the competition, taking advantage of some carnage ahead of him in order to move all the way to fourth position before the checkered flag was flown. In the second race, the Georgia native held sixth position in the field before dropping back to seventh one lap later. He spearheaded the battle for sixth position as the top five progressively broke away one lap after the next, incessantly building their advantage. Standish feverishly swapped positions with Gavin Anthony and Cory Ventura in the late stages of the race, but he ultimately lost the dogfight as he was forced to settle behind Anthony in seventh position.
