The Orange Brigade KTM rider charged through the field, working his way up to twelfth position on the first flying lap. The young Californian was able to force his way to fourth place by the halfway point of the race, but the gap to the leaders was too much to overcome. In the 65cc Open class, Deegan’s Dunlop tires carried him to an exceptional start in which he settled into sec- ond place on the first lap. On the very next lap, he set the fastest time of the race on his way past Enzo Temmerman and checked out on the competition, clinching the champion- ship in dominant fashion.
