Carson Mumford put together a splendid debut on the 250F at the opening round of SXA racing in Ana- heim, finishing the day with a podium in the Schoolboy 2 class and an additional win in the Amateur All- Star class. The Team Dunlop Elite alum did well to battle with his AMSOIL Factory Connection Honda teammate, Jo Shimoda, who has had much more seat time on the bigger bike. A week can’t make much of a difference, but Mumford looked even better once the second round of action got underway in Glen- dale. The Californian performed well in all three of his heat races -- scoring a second place in Schoolboy 2, a third place in the 250 B class, and a third in Open B. He kicked into high gear when the main events got underway and took two out of three victories, edging out Shimoda to the win in both 250 B and Open B. His teammate struck back in the Schoolboy 2 class and took the win, forcing Mumford back to second position, but a trio of podium finishes (including two wins) is surely a good way to end the weekend for the youngster.
