COOPER WEBB
Cooper Webb has assumed total command of the 2016 250 outdoor series. He has clearly kicked it up a
notch in the second half of the season winning three overalls and five of the ten motos since his stellar come
from behind win at Muddy Creek. His season started off a little uncertain when he only finished on the podium three times
in the first eight motos. Many wondered if his wrist injury from supercross was going to debilitate him for most of the season but as time went on that theory was debunked. I’d say the second moto at Muddy Creek was by far his breakout performance of the season passing would be first time winner Shane McElrath in dramatic fashion on the final lap. That race set the tone for the remainder of the championship. He has been on another level than his competitors since then and his only non-podium moto finish was after his failed break-check move on Savatgy during the opening lap at Washougal. His rival and early points leader Joey Savatgy started slumping just as he was rising and it resulted in a huge points swing. Webb now enjoys a fifty-one point lead in the series and looks to be in control with just three rounds remaining.
