Alex was assuming Unadilla was going to be muddy Saturday morning but to everyone’s surprise, the track was looking good. Alex was fast and smooth in the first session and was ready to get back to racing. In the second qualifying session, Alex jumped to second fastest early on and demanded he was going to capitalize on his brother’s absence. In the last seconds, he solidified himself as the fastest rider and went into the motos with an abundance of confidence. When the gate dropped for moto one, Alex was forced to let off early down the start straight and was running around 10th place early on in the first lap. Alex made quick work of the other riders and was battling for 5th before the first lap was even over. Alex got it done and was sitting 5th place as they began the second lap. Then, the red flag came out and a quick break would be put in place. Alex would line back up with a new front tire and be ready to restart. When the gated dropped again, Alex began to battle in the top ten again but unfortunately, hit the ground early on in the first lap. His work was cut out for him if he wanted to salvage the moto and he was trying hard to get back going. It seemed Alex was struggling to regain the pace, as his fastest lap was more than five seconds off of the leaders. Alex began to finally start making up ground as they neared the halfway point. He was sitting around 25th and doing everything he could to make up time. In the next five minutes, Alex was able to make up about 8 positions. By the time the checkers flew he was able
to salvage 13th place. In the second moto, Alex got a decent start and was running inside the top ten in the beginning of the first lap. Alex put himself into an amazing 4th place before the lap was over. Alex began to put on a battle with Savatgy as they battled for 3rd. Alex got by and put down clean laps behind his teammate, Webb. Alex looked to begin to get overheated as the laps went on and was luckily saved by another red flag that would end the moto. He would finish 7th overall with 13-5 finishes in New York.
