ZANE MERRETT
After two years in the B class, Zane Merrett just recently made the jump up to the A class following the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Champi- onship last year. The Texas native recorded his first overall podium fin- ish at the Ranch in the 450 B Limited class, a title that would have been his barring a crash in the second moto. Merrett made his A class debut at The Motoplayground Race at Ponca City and put himself up on the box in the Open Pro Sport Division before making the trip to Gatorback Cycle Park for the Thor Winter Olympics. The rider out of Underground Training Facility was slow to get going at Mini O’s, but he picked things up as racing headed to the motocross track. Mer- rett took third overall in the College- boy class and bagged a solid top five finish in 250 A, bringing him into the new year with droves of confidence in his program.
CANYON
RICHARDS
Canyon Richards spent the majority of the 2017 racing season on the podium in one capacity or another, starting with a third place overall in the 51cc (4-8) Limited class at the Daytona RCSX. The New Jersey native continued with success as
he moved onto Oak Hill Raceway, bagging a total of three number
one plates during his time in Texas. Richards proved himself as one of the fastest riders in the 50cc division no matter the locale, winning titles at both the Baja Brawl and The Moto- playground Race at Ponca City. The Cobra rider ended the 2017 racing season with a bevy of accomplish- ments at the 46th annual Thor Winter Olympics, claiming the overall victory in the 51cc (7-8) Limited Motocross division as well as multiple podiums throughout the week. Richards has since graduated to the 65cc class fulltime in 2018 and looks to make an immediate impact, showing his potential at the beginning of the new season with a couple of Amateur Arenacross victories.
