Levi Newby quickly rose to the top of the B class at Spring A Ding Ding as one of the favorites to take the title after finishing on the podium in all three of his first motos. The Montana native impressed on the opening
day of racing, especially in the 450
B class where he earned a clear-cut victory against some incredibly speedy competition. On the second day of racing action, Newby started things
off with a second place in the 450 B class, propelling himself to the top step of the podium to earn the first number one plate of the day. Unfortunately, the Suzuki rider encountered a mistake in the next moto and was forced to call
it a day, but he still left Underground MX as the first ever Spring A Ding Ding Champion. A torn ACL and MCL would leave him out of competition at Freestone, but Newby is determined to come back better than ever when he’s all healed up.
STILEZ ROBERTSON
Stilez Robertson has long since established himself as one of the perennial championship contenders in the constantly fluctuating field
of amateur motocross talent. The Team Green Kawasaki rider made his big bike debut at the Motop- layground Race at Ponca City last year, immediately finding success on the KX250F as he found his way onto the podium. He backed it up
at Mini O’s by winning a supercross title at the beginning of the week, but a scary crash while battling for the lead on the outdoor track ended his week early. Robertson began the 2018 season with a couple of solid results at the Monster Energy Amateur Supercross in Anaheim and he looked as if he would turn some heads during the sched-
uled spring events, but an injury sustained in practice at Freestone forced him onto the sidelines. Nonetheless, Robertson has done enough to guarantee that when he’s back on the bike, he’ll be mix- ing it up at the front of the pack.
