>> A pair of Kawasakis got out into the lead off the start of the Masters 55+ class as Samuel Allen Jr. and Mark Thomas led the field around on the opening lap. Allen Jr. stretched out the gap at the front over the span of the first flying lap
as Thomas ended up giving up a position to the Honda of Al Matarazzo. The top 3 riders were rather spread out as they crossed the finish line to begin the penultimate lap. Allen Jr, set a hot pace at the front of the field as he continued to lay down fast laps in quick succession. Matarazzo attempted to close the gap to him, but they were running a fairly similar pace which stagnated the gap between the podium contend- ers. Allen Jr. had a 4 second advantage over Matarazzo at the beginning of the white flag lap, setting him up for a light jaunt to the finish line in order to secure the championship. He lost a little bit of time to the Honda in tow, but he man- aged the gap perfectly and grabbed the championship in dominant fashion with a pair of 1-1 finishes. Matarazzo and Thomas rounded out the overall podium.
