>> Lance Kobusch got out to a flying start and took the ad- vantage by way of an outstanding holeshot. He led the way ahead of Hardy Munoz and Joe Shimoda as the two of them attempted to stick with the Team Green rider throughout the first lap. Shimoda was poised to make the pass for 2nd com- ing down into the gator pit before the finish line, but he made a mistake and ended up crashing, putting him out of con- tention to qualify straight through to the main event. Justin Rodbell and Tanner Stack worked their way into podium con- tention and the two of them went at it on the final lap. They swapped positions multiple times coming into the spectator section of the course. Stack had put in the hard work in order to close the gap to Rodbell; he set up the Yamaha rider in the whoops section and worked his way into 2nd place, Rod- bell fought back in the very next corner and the two of them left everything on the track as they inched closer to the finish line. Kobusch was on his way to unchallenged victory, but his bike ran out of gas with only one corner to go and ended up forfeiting the lead. Stack was able to force his Honda through on the Yamaha of Rodbell and win the moto by a mere thou- sandths of a second.
