mcElrath struggled a bit in qualifying saturday in the Indy ruts. He qualified within the top ten and knew it was going to be a tough night. shane started on the very inside in 250 Heat
1. This position was the right for Shane and he came out very well because the long start straight would leave riders scrambling for the brakes and Shane would sneak right around the inside. McElrath rounded the third corner in 2nd place and put his focus forward. He lost one position to Davalos, but would finish a solid 3rd and channel his focus to the Main Event. Shane had a similar gate pick for the Main and came around the first corner around 7th. By lap 8, McElrath had only picked up one spot and was sitting in 6th. On lap 9, it got interesting and Shane began a battle with Gannon Audette. He made the pass a couple times, but it seemed something started to slow the KTM rider and he started to lose time to Ganon. He now sat in 5th place because Jeremy Martin had a crash. Another crash by Davalos put Shane in 4th place. Shane held the spot and grabbed another top 5 result with a 4th place finish in Indy.
