WONDERGOAT
MIKE ALESSI
Believe the Hype. That is what was the phrase being tossed around pertaining to the pro debut of mike Alessi way back in 2004. mike was arguably the most hyped up,
intriguing rookie in the history of the sport. He absolutely dominated the amateur scene and was always talked about as the next superstar or the next McGrath. Now in his twelfth season, I think it is safe to say that, although Mike has had a fine career, he never completely fulfilled that hype he had coming out of the amateur ranks. In his defense, his hype so outrageous and so big that even if he did win a few championships I think people would still say he hasn’t lived up to it. We have seen some brilliant seasons and rides from the California rider in the outdoor championship but he has never had that same success in the stadiums. Supercross is not his strong suit but you have to respect the time and effort he puts in to try and better his indoor skills. Mike is always out at the supercross test track training and honing his skills. We all know he has the art of the holeshot mastered so he just needs to find a little more speed on the rest of the track to get back to being a consistent top ten Sx rider. This year, Mike is just as good as he’s ever been in supercross and look for him to get out to a good start and a top ten finish at Indianapolis this weekend.
