ELI TOMAC
IMAGE/JACKEDWARDS
Well, yee-haw, the Colorado Cowboy has returned to the good ole’ nationals and he’s picking up right where he left off. Well maybe not quite right where he left off but close. If you remember correctly, the #3 Kawasaki won the first five motos of the year in 2015 before cross-rutting at his home race, Thunder Valley, and going down with a right shoulder dislocation and a left rotator cuff tear. Still though, at this year’s opening round Eli went 4-4 for 3rd overall behind the untouchables of Roczen and Dungey. With a podium finish, it becomes almost obvious to think that it’s only a matter of time before Eli completely returns to form and applies some more pressure to the front runners, especially with Glen Helen being a premium stage.
If he continues to remain in control, avoids the chance of one too many swaps and can start near the front, Tomac can turn up the temperature even more in the heat of San Bernardino. To make things even more interesting, at Glen Helen in 2015, Eli went 1-1 and cleaned house en route to the overall win; a possible precursor to round two of this year’s summer series.
