Cole began the round with a decent 10th place qualifying position and needed a start to make the gate pick to his advantage in moto one. Luckily enough, the #14 of Seely got near the front out of the gate and began his battle in 6th place behind the lead group. With a calm aggression, Cole then began the slow charge that would get him into 5th around a fading Barcia, then into 4th as the race had officially
settled in after the first few laps. The #25 of Musquin lied ahead in 3rd as the two front runners had put some major distance between themselves and the rest of the field. Applying consistent pressure in the ensuing laps, Seely got around Marvin on the inside of a left hander following one of the many monstrous gaps. Beginning the domino effect for Musquin, the French rider continued to fade as Seely had to deal with bigger problems like Tomac and Canard. Both riders got around the Honda of Seely putting him back to 5th the races end. In moto two, Seely didn’t get off to as good of a jump and started the race in 13th. In the midst of a ferocious group of riders, Seely bounce around in the lower teens. He had made movements up to 10th before making a mistake in the atrocious rhythm section
to drop back into 15th. From there, having to work back to where he was, Seely picked off spots quickly to return to 11th and then 10th once again near the end of the moto where he finished with 5-10 moto scores for the first time in two weeks. As it turns out, this week’s performance earned him a 7th place finish which would be movement in the wrong direction but Seely shows a high level of promise as the series begins to get more intense. With each passing week, riders like Seely are a ticking time-bomb to be the next spoiler in the ever evolving competitive force of 450 nationals.
