As the gate fell for the first 250 moto, Alex Frye began to block out his surroundings, and hone in
on the pin that lay in front of him. Unfortunately a bit of over aggression and wheel spin delayed his efforts to lead on the frontier, and he found himself tenth following the crossing of the green flag. He would hover near the tenth position for the remainder of the moto, being a frontrunner of the TLD
squad and proving his true worth amongst a field of elders. He would finish fifteenth, just two spots behind his team- mate Jessy Nelson. After a lethargic jump in moto two, Frye realized early he was being sucked into a mirage of quick sand, and needed to dig feverishly in order to get out. Residing in 18th after lap one, the woes of Mount St. Helen seemed to really cause an exertion of energy within the sophomore, as he was battling for points contention at the halfway mark. Never one to throw in the towel, Frye took the words of the pit-board to heart, and continued to charge vigorously for each and every position. Although a seventeenth isn’t ideal, he came away uninjured and ready to improve as the series heads to Colorado.
