Blake called his team manager late on Friday before the race and told him he was feeling better. Broken Collarbone and all, Baggett was out there when the morning program began at Glen Helen. After first practice, Blake was feeling good as he came in 15th fastest despite being in surgery just a few days prior. He finished up qualifying with 14th fastest and was focused on getting through the day as painless as possible. Blake got off to a fantastic start when the first
moto began. He was running top 5 but in just the second turn, Baggett hit the ground. He got up in 40th position and knew he had his work cut out for him. He made up ten positions within two laps and was moving forward quickly. With about five minutes left on the clock, Blake had made his way into 16th place and he would hold on to finish there. Unfortunately Blake would not show up to the gate for moto two and his day was over in Southern California. His efforts would still be good enough for 19th overall and hopefully he will heal up for Colorado next weekend.
