Jessy knew it was time to go fast as the morning program began at Glen Helen. He got the track dialed
in during the first session and put down a solid top ten performance in the second session and he would
set his focus on the motos. When the first race of the day began, Jessy got off to a not so characteristic start and was sitting around 15th halfway through lap one. By lap two, Jessy had made a few passes and was doing everything he could to dodge the roost of the ten riders in front of him. Unfortunately about ten minutes into the moto, the Glen Helen track reached up and bit Jessy as he made a mistake and was pushed back to 18th. He was only able to climb back to 13th by the time the checkered flag was out. Jessy unleashed a near holeshot in the second moto and was challenging for the lead early on. He settled into 2nd place and tried to put down some fast clean laps. Nearing the halfway point, Jessy was keeping the leader honest and kept within two seconds of him up until a hard charging rookie in Forkner, tracked Nelson down and got by him. With ten minutes left on the clock, Forkner made a mistake and allowed Jessy back into the 2nd place position. Jessy was doing everything he could to navigate the rough track until suddenly with three laps to go, 3rd place rider Alex put on a charge. He was able to put a block pass on Nelson through the split section where Nelson temporarily went off the track but re-entered quickly with no harm done. Jessy was now holding down 3rd place once again and would hang on until the checkers. He would go 13-3 for 6th overall at Glen Helen.
