position, salvaging a decent gate pick for the main event. He was determined to get out front early in the main event and his strategy paid off as he executed a perfect start, subsequently pulling the holeshot and putting himself in the best position to succeed on the opening lap. Cochran took control of the race from the front of the field and rode within his limits, utilizing the empty track ahead of him to choose his own lines and ride his own race. He went relatively unchallenged throughout the duration of the five laps and ended up building a gap of approximately three seconds ahead of Julien Beaumer in second position by the time the checkered flag was flown, taking the title in the 85cc (9-12) division in the process.
