Talon Hawkins has been knocking on the door of the upper-echelon of young amateur riders for the last couple years, regularly breaking down the barrier on the edge of the top ten
and top five, and sometimes making his way onto the podium. The California native doesn’t contest all of the major amateur races through- out the season, but he does more than enough to make a name for himself at the races that he chooses to attend. He found a lot of success
in his home state throughout the 2018 racing season as he landed on the podium and broke into the top five at the FMF California Classic. Additionally, Hawkins ramped it up in the Su- permini class at Mammoth Mountain Motocross
and landed on the overall podium in both of the classes that he entered, including an over-
all victory in the Vintage 1 Pre ‘76 class. He proved himself to be one of the fastest in the nation on a supermini as he earned seventh place overall at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in the Supermini 2 division, placing seventh overall as a result of all three motos. Hawkins also raced the Monster Energy Cup in the Supermini divi- sion the past two years, so he’s no stranger to a supercross track; consequently, he was com- ing into State Farm Stadium with the podium on his mind.
