Nick Romano’s reputation precedes him and his bountiful collection of Amateur National Titles speak for them- selves. The New Yorker started the season on the right track with a championship on the 85 at the Daytona RCSX, but a training injury would force him to sit out of the rest of spring nationals. Nonetheless, the Team Green Kawasaki rider put together a solid Road to Loretta’s and ended up coming away from the Ranch with a third place overall in the 85cc (9-11) Limited class and a fifth place overall in the 85cc (9-12) class. Although most amateur riders would be stoked at the prospect of finishing on the podium at Loretta’s, Romano’s previ- ous success tempered his expectations as he expects more from himself on the nation’s largest stage.
