Krystian Janik’s appearance at the 2017 Baja Brawl would be his first major race in which he decided to compete solely on his KX85. The Illinois native experienced moderate success in various 65cc and 85cc classes throughout the 2017 season, most notably scoring top five finishes at the Daytona RCSX in March. He backed up his speed at JuniorMotoX with two more overall podiums and punched his tickets to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch with a couple of stellar victories at his qualifiers. Unfortunately, Janik experienced a rough crash early in the week at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championships that forced him out of the remainder of the competition, but the youngster is back on the bike and looking to regain some momentum to carry into the 2018 season. Janik started the weekend off at the Baja Brawl with one of his most impressive rides of the weekend in the 85cc (9-11) Limited class. The Team Green Kawasaki rider barreled into the first corner bar- to-bar with his teammate, Nick Romano, and the two of them proceeded to distance themselves from the pack.
