PHIL NICOLETTI
If you have watched most of the 450 outdoor nationals this season, you have probably seen Phil Nicoletti battling up front. He is almost always fighting hard and keeping pace in the top five early in races but it
is not translating to great results. That is because despite running up front in nearly every moto, Nicoletti
seems to stumble upon some bad luck one way or the other near the end of the races. Albeit a crash or mechanical error, his overall results have taken away from his great early race performances. If he can figure out how to remain consistent throughout two full motos, Nicoletti without a doubt would be a constant in the top ten and a frequent challenger for
the top five. He has finished, as far up as fourth in a moto this year but his best overall finish is only an eighth. Last week Nicoletti showed some improvements to his consistency with 8-8 moto finishes and they would have been even better if it weren’t for getting passed in the waning laps of the second moto. Nicoletti’s speed is there, but he has two more rounds to show us if he can string together two complete motos and get up to the top five where he belongs.
