Vinny Luhovey Jr. is one of the few amateur motocross riders that has raced at the Monster Energy Cup and still attends public school during the week. This day in age, most riders that have finished top 5 at Loretta’s spend their time training at dedicated riding facilities and complete home schooling when they can. Luhovey is a different story; the rider out of Greensburg, PA has created a custom
training regiment for himself that he uses to hone his skills daily. He’s been racing since he was 4 years old and has won 9 consecutive Pennsylvania MX State Championships. The 16 year old has been a Loretta Lynn’s National contender for 6 years on the trot, his most successful running at The Ranch coming last year when he placed 5th overall in the Supermini 2 class. He’s also managed multiple top 10 finishes at Mini-O’s (supercross) with a pair of 7th place finishes in both Supermini categories in 2015. He’s being backed by MPR Suspension, Eleven 10 Mods, and True MX on his charge to Loretta’s this year aboard a YZ250F. He’s on a good run of form throughout his qualifiers coming into the High Point regional, yet to finish off the overall podium in any of his classes. He’s also managed to snag a couple of overall victories in the B class and the 250 All-Star A/B class throughout the running of the PAMX Thor Championship series across his home state of Pennsylvania. Luhovey will be looking to earn a ticket back to The Ranch in Mt. Morris and break into the top 3 for the first time in his young career.
