GAGE WILCOX
The #100 KTM of Gage Wilcox has seen its
fair share battles thus far this year with an
8th place at the James Stewart Freestone national, a 4th at the Cal Classic in April and multiple victories in the RMX summer series and came to Mammoth Mountain this week looking for more. If the results don’t speak for themselves, the Utah native can bring the heat and did so in the 65cc 10-11 and Open classes.
As the pits filled for day one, Gage dawned the lid of a warrior and headed to the line for heat one of the 10-11 class ready for motocross warfare. Wilcox got off the gate in style, holding down 3rd com- fortably as tomorrow’s super- stars settled in on the track. Getting by the #2 of Parker Ross on lap three, Gage set his sights on Ryder Difran- cisco in 1st but ran out of time in the short five lap sprint, closing the gap to just two seconds by the finish. Hoping to show Ryder a wheel in moto two, Gage didn’t get the start he wanted as he began his climb in 6th as Difrancisco held down 2nd a few spots ahead of him. Picking up 5th on lap two, Ross and Wilcox again engaged in battle with each other, each picking up
a spot while the rider in 3rd went down. By lap four, the two riders found themselves in 4th and 5th, where they would stay. Finishing with a 5th on the day for the 10-11 class, Gage looked to Open for his next opportunity.
